Jordan Danger

Jordan Danger is an emerging Canadian artist, exploring the intersection between craft and fine art, function and sculptural form. Jordan works primarily in porcelain and stoneware ceramics. Her previous exploration of illustration, animation, and painting influence many of her design and decoration techniques.

Jordan began delving into the arts field with a job as a Key Animator with Amberwood Studios at the age of 18. Painting and illustration for commissioned projects became a common trend for Jordan, who sold pieces to various private collectors and organizations. Her work was featured for several years as the art on all Ottawa Police materials related to their Hate Crimes campaigns. She eventually stepped away from two-dimensional media. Jordan’s passion for clay emerged in 2012 and has led the artist to a new relationship with expression.

ARTIST STATEMENT

Long ago in a classroom somewhere, I etched a note to myself on a wooden easel: “Art should be accessible”. This quickly became my mantra and has guided my exploration of media, subject, and form until this very day.

Born in British Columbia to a family that is primarily Nova Scotian, I have strong ties to the oceans. I strive to create pieces that will incite a love affair between the beholder and the subject. If I can create a piece that someone wants to touch or talk to everyday, I have achieved my goal. I like to cross the line between craft (which is typically functional) and art (which is typically untouchable), and find a middle ground where the work is expertly executed, but the end product is approachable. If a person can appreciate how precious a ceramic cephalopod is, they can learn to appreciate how precious the original animal is.
